Healthcare providers and their tasks

General practice Valeriusplein

Consultation hours

The practice is open every working day from 08:00 to 17:00.

Why triage before the consultation?

When you call the GP, you will speak to one of the practice assistants. She will ask you the reason for your call and ask you a number of questions to clarify exactly what your request for help is. This is called triage. Triage ensures that, despite increasing workload, waiting times remain as short as possible. The aim is for you as a patient to receive the right care, at the right time (e.g., a quick appointment or emergency home visit in case of an emergency), and from the right healthcare provider.

You can request a telephone consultation with the GP for the same day if you inform the assistant before 11:00 AM.

If you submit the request after 11:00 AM, you will be called back the next day.
This also applies to requesting test results.

After 11:00 AM, the doctors no longer have the opportunity to call back. A telephone appointment is never at a specific time.

The doctor will attempt to call you back twice; if there is no answer, you can call back and we will schedule a new telephone appointment.

Our assistants hold their own consultation hours.

You can come here for a Pap smear as part of the cervical cancer screening program, ear syringing, vaccinations, blood pressure measurements, wart treatment, or the removal of stitches.

You can make an appointment by phone.

Other healthcare providers

Our main location is situated at Valeriusplein 40.

The branch where you can also make appointments is at Olympiaplein 142, next to the Stadion Apotheek.

A nurse practitioner is qualified to independently diagnose, treat, prescribe medication, and refer to a specialist.

She works independently and possesses extensive knowledge. When the patient’s request for help falls outside the nurse practitioner’s area of expertise, she will consult with, for example, the general practitioner, medical specialist, or other healthcare providers.

For completeness, you can watch the video below to get an impression of the Nurse Practitioner in a general practice setting.

General Practice Valeriusplein works closely with the University of Amsterdam, among others, in the training of various healthcare professionals.

General practitioners, doctors, and medical assistants in training are regularly present at the practice. They often see patients independently and are always supervised by one of the general practitioners.
